Meet Fernando

Fernando Bernall, DOM, CFMP, is a board-certified and licensed acupuncture practitioner in both Florida and Colorado, as well as a primary healthcare provider under Florida Statute 457.102(2). He has been in practice for over 30 years and currently serves patients at his clinic in St. Augustine, Florida.

A graduate of the prestigious Florida Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fernando has completed postgraduate training in substance abuse at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, NY. He is a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) with advanced Dry Needling training through Myopain Seminars and has also studied orthopedic acupuncture. Additionally, he is certified in Acupoint Injection Therapy and a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner through Functional Medicine University. His ongoing studies include Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis with Dr. Dickens Weatherby, ND, and continued training in Functional Medicine with Dr. Bryan Walsh of Metabolic Fitness Pro.

Fernando is also a published author of “In the Belly of Darkness: A Journey Through the Microbiome and Its Secrets“, where he explores the intricate relationship between gut health and overall well-being. His commitment to helping those with digestive disorders led him to develop “The Optimal Digestion Blueprint“, an online program designed to guide individuals toward restoring gut health using functional medicine principles.

Beyond digestive health, Fernando has a deep interest in movement therapy and neurological rehabilitation. He is the creator of NeuroTaiChi, a program designed to help individuals with movement disorders—including Parkinson’s disease and ataxia—regain stability and coordination through the practice of Tai Chi. He believes Tai Chi is not just a martial art but a powerful system for structural integration, neuroplasticity, and healing.

Drawing from his extensive background in Chinese medicine, acupuncture, herbal medicine, bodywork, and martial arts, Fernando integrates a holistic approach to health that includes exercise, nutrition, and mind-body practices. He has invested years in refining modern acupuncture techniques, including motor point acupuncture, dry needling, Acu-Point Injection Therapy, Ozone Therapy, LED Light Therapy, Electroacupuncture, and microcurrent stimulation. His training in substance abuse treatment at Lincoln Detox Center under Dr. Michael Smith further deepened his understanding of addiction recovery and integrative medicine.

At his clinic, Fernando treats a wide range of conditions, from acute and chronic pain to metabolic and internal disorders. He has seen a growing number of patients seeking care for diabetes, autoimmune conditions, and other complex health concerns. With a strong emphasis on exercise as a catalyst for healing, he encourages patients to integrate movement into their wellness routines, believing that those who exercise regularly heal much faster than those who do not.

Fernando is also an educator and a perpetual student, continuously expanding his knowledge in Physiology-Based Medicine, Functional Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Pain Sciences, Nutrition, and Exercise Physiology. His passion for integrative health extends beyond the clinic through his blog, where he shares insights on medicine, fitness, juicing, and holistic wellness.
