What I Do

Here’s what I do: I teach, coach, guide, and inspire my clients and patients to incorporate into their lives a holistic approach to living that includes exercise, nutrition, and mind-body methods which will transform their current health condition into a vibrant and fulfilling state of being.

I draw from over 30 years of practice in the martial arts,  20 years of  study and practice of Chinese medicine and a lifetime of dedication to fitness. I consider exercise to be the catalyst of all healing methods. In my experience, patients who exercise regularly and rigorously a minimum of 3 times per week, heal much faster than those who do not.

Besides training clients in my private studio, I also provide online training to those not able to train with me directly. I have developed a training method that has proven to be very successful with my clients and guarantee that if you do as I teach you, that you will reach high levels of functional fitness.

I am currently opening a new  training session for online clients that includes joint mobility drills from my SpiralFlow™ Method of Joint Mobility, bodyweight calisthenics, resistance/strength training with kettlebells and mind-body disciplines such as Tai Chi and Qi Gong. I am including nutritional guidance in accordance to the principle of Chinese medicine and with current understanding of sports nutrition.

Who I am

I am a Board Certified and licensed Acupuncture Physician, and an athlete with a lifelong training history dating back to my early days in my native Colombia where I played Bola ‘e Trapo, a style of soccer played barefoot with a ball made from cloth.

I am certified personal training and certified Kettlebell instructor. I have played semi-professional soccer, ran two Chicago marathons and have over 30 years in the martial arts. I am a three time Gold medalist in Tai Chi push-hands competitions at both national and international level.

My work is extensively influenced by my understanding of Chinese medicine where the body is viewed as a network of energy pathways running within all connective tissue including the fascia and viscera. In essence, then, I am a holistic trainer.

To train my clients, I draw from my knowledge of Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Hsing-I, Hap-Ki-Do, Acupuncture and Shiatsu; and from my current understanding of anatomy, exercise physiology, strength training, sports nutrition and herbology.

Above all, I am a student..
